Streetkids International e.V. builds school complex in Tanzania
Streetkids International e.V. is building and managing orphanages and educational facilities in Tanzania. The organization’s mission is to provide vulnerable orphans with a safe home and a better future through education. This initiative is designed to improve the children’s chances of securing employment. By focusing on quality education and well-trained teachers, the organization aims to set an example.
In Kilolo, located in the Iringa district in central Tanzania, a modern school complex is taking shape. Last year, the organization completed the construction of all school buildings, creating a comprehensive learning environment. Currently, 74 children attend classes from S1 to S3, including 19 graduates. To further emprove the quality of education and position the “Kilolo Academy for Pre- and Primary Education” (KAPP) as a progressive educational institution in the region, the organization has developed workbooks in English for the upcoming school year.
The academic team has been strengthened with the addition of a new head teacher, Rosemary, and a matron to provide care and support. In addition, a newly constructed kitchen provides hygienic and nutritious meals for the students. The Hahnair Foundation is contributing a total of 100,000 euros to the costs.
The purchase of an additional plot of land offers space for teacher housing, sports facilities, and practical projects such as goat farming and vegetable gardening.
Collaboration with the LEGACY School in Iringa and Dodoma aims to further raise the standards oft the school. The academy is also committed to sustainability: during the last graduation ceremony, it completely avoided the use of disposable products.
